Under the slogan of "Diversity together," the heristo Group is facilitating individualized continued education programs for employees from all of its subsidiaries. The goal: Staying strong together! Here are just a few examples of our internal continuing education efforts.

Buss: Success, one module at a time

At Buss, the first step-by-step training programs to help employees become certified Machine and Line Operators started in September 2019. Since then, unskilled employees of the company have been able to complete their vocational qualification as Machine and Line Operators in four modules. Buss has been able to offer this upskilling program in cooperation with the Bildungswerk Niedersächsische Wirtschaft. The Bildungswerk provides theoretical instruction, while the practical phases of the individual modules take place at Buss. Participants are trained on the various machines and systems in their own particular departments. All the content is derived from the training curriculum, which ensures targeted preparation for the final examinations. To confirm what the participants have learned, employees take an exam after each module and receive a corresponding certificate. Those who successfully complete all four modules can then sign up for the final examination, administered by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Matthias B., a supervisor at Buss, sees the whole thing as a win-win situation: "By using the step-by-step certification program, we can support the specific needs of our employees in their further development, and then put them to work in more complex jobs and challenges. In the best-case scenario, we'd like to implement the program on a regular recurring schedule." In addition, others in the heristo Group are also looking at whether this model can be used for their departments.

In addition to apprenticeship as an Industrial Business Specialist, how does an additional certification as a European Business Specialist sound? Alexander, from saturn petcare GmbH, did just that. The two-year advanced training course required a total of 200 hours of instruction on topics such as international business processes, as well as numerous written exams and project work. It was no easy task, but the ambitious young businessman was excited to accept the challenge. Additional lessons, an internship abroad, and certifications such as the European Computer Driving Licence were necessary for the ultimate certification as a European Business Specialist. Alexander was particularly interested in the international influences. "I hadn't worked abroad before, so I really wanted to take advantage of this opportunity," he explained.

He described the coordination with saturn petcare GmbH as straightforward. "I went straight to my supervisor and we got everything up and running pretty quickly. Even the time off for courses and the internship was no problem!"
